Real Madrid's Trent Alexander-Arnold Could Return to Face His Former Club in November's European Fixture
Real Madrid acquired Trent Alexander-Arnold with a multi-year agreement
The defender's rehabilitation is progressing according to plan, raising possibility that the Real Madrid defender could return soon enough to play against his former team Liverpool in the upcoming European tie.
The 27-year-old international suffered a muscle problem during a match against Ligue 1 club Marseille in the group stage of the competition on September 16.
Alexander-Arnold exited the pitch in the fifth minute, with early indications pointing to a potential layoff of up to six weeks.
Real Madrid are scheduled to face Liverpool on 4 November for the Champions League fixture—precisely over a month since the incident took place.
Reports close to the player's condition state that the defender's recovery is advancing positively, and there is expectation that Alexander-Arnold might make his initial comeback to Liverpool's stadium since moving to Los Blancos in June.
A lifelong Liverpool fan, Alexander-Arnold earlier said that departing from the club he joined as a young youth player was the "toughest decision he has ever taken."
During his time with the Reds, Alexander-Arnold made 354 appearances, helping win two English top-flight championships, a Champions League, and the domestic cup.
After moving to the Spanish capital, Alexander-Arnold has played on five occasions across various tournaments, totaling over two and a half hours of playing time.
