Brian Eno Encourages Backing to Send Together for Palestine Song to UK Christmas No 1.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The effort hopes to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

A Possibility for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”

Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.

“It has a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The track was produced following a solidarity show held in September. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the performance was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.

The notable list of performers featured on Lullaby includes a range of well-known figures from the music world. All were part of the September show, which reportedly raised a considerable total for relief efforts.

Production and Release

Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of music creators. The single features a fusion of the heritage language with freshly written English words.

The group managing the initiative have clarified that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These donations will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a spokesperson commented. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. It all goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The context in the area was noted for its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of property reportedly destroyed or damaged.

“Given that reality, a handful of millions won't make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is primarily raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”

The song is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
